I got my start in photography while serving as a photojournalist in the United States Marine Corps from 1987-1992. I learned how to dodge and burn my photographic negatives in a darkroom, before Photoshop was a twinkle in anyone’s eye. My first camera was a Nikon F3, a piece of machinery which was much more of a battle tank than the high-tech fighter jets that cameras are today. Armed with this antique and a bag of film, I was assigned to various units in the Far East to chronicle and document military exercises and activities, with the articles and photos appearing in base newspapers around the globe. I was also a travel journalist for 15 years, navigating the planet and capturing the beauty of this big blue sphere called Earth. Now, my passion is landscape, architectural and aerial photography, and my new home state of Colorado gives me ample subject matter to work with.
